“This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all men to be saved to come to knowledge of the truth.” —1 Timothy 2:3-4 (RSVCE)
For adults and children over the age of 7 today, the Church, after the Second Vatican Council, has restored the order of the Catechumenate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) It outlines the steps for the formation of catechumens, bringing their conversion to the faith to a greater maturity.
Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith, or becoming Catholic? Are you in need of Baptism? Are you in need of both Confirmation and First Eucharist? Are you an adult (18+) or parent with a child who is 7 years or older in need of Baptism?
We welcome you to contact the Director of Faith Formation to arrange a call or meeting to help you on your journey of faith!
If you are currently married outside the Catholic Church, Marriage Preparation & validation of your current marriage may be required before you can be fully received into the Church. Likewise, any previous marriages (including JP or 'Common Law') will have to go through the Marriage Tribunal process before a current marriage can be validated, or before a future Marriage may be entered into. This process is highly individual and depends upon many factors. Unresolved marriage issues can delay a person’s entry into the Catholic Church.
If your child has not been baptized, or has been baptized in another faith tradition, or is seven (7) years old and has not had faith formation (attended catechism classes, Catholic school, etc.), then they must be in RCIA Adapted to continue their journey of faith and complete their sacraments of initiation.
Here at Saint Thomas, we welcome and expect that at least one (1) parent will be attending sessions with their children to help accompany them on their journey of faith toward the sacraments of initiation.
