The Mission of our Parish Ministries is to provide parishioners the opportunity to participate in the life of the parish, assist in sustaining parish activities, and show our gratitude by sharing our God-given gifts and talents with each other and our parish community.
Requirements to participate in parish minsitries
Volunteers must complete a Diocesan Adult Volunteer Application or a Teen Volunteer Application and submit it to the school or parish Safe Environment Coordinator where your ministry will be based.
All applicants 18 years old or older must complete the Authorization for Release of Information for processing a Criminal Background Check.
All volunteers must review and sign the Adult Code of Conduct and Behavior Standards or Teen Code of Conduct and Behavior Standards.
All adult staff and volunteers must register and attend a Safe Environment Awareness Session PRIOR to working or volunteering.
Are you interested in serving during Mass? Altar Servers assist the priest and/or deacon, thereby serving the whole community. Parent/guardian permission required if under 18. Must have received First Communion and complete safe environment training.
The “Guardian” Ministry volunteers make our parish a safer place. The Guardian Ministry members help direct parishioners to safety, see and report unusual activity/behavior, deescalate or neutralize threat. They receive specialized training, carry two-way radios, and other equipment. Candidates should be fit.
Medical professionals help when a health emergency occurs and are part of the Guardian Team assigned to each Mass. Please contact Bruce Mallory for more information.
Adoration | Adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist.
Altar Servers | Altar Servers assist the priest and/or deacon, thereby serving the whole community. Parent/guardian permission required
Baptismal Preparation | The Baptism Preparation Team helps parents and Godparents prepare their child to receive this holy sacrament.
Bereavement / Funeral Ministry | The Bereavement Ministry assists and supports the family that has lost a loved one by helping in funeral liturgy, wake/rosary, grief resources.
Choir / Music Ministry | The music ministry is responsible for the worship music for the church. Each mass has its own choir and musicians. Members also participate in special Masses, funerals, and weddings
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist | Members assist the priests and/or deacon in the distribution of the Body and Precious Blood of Christ to the congregation and the sick. This ministry requires members to be in Good Standing.
Hospitality, Greeters, and Ushers | Fostering a spirit of stewardship and hospitality. Members ensure that all visitors and parishioners feel welcomed into the community.
Lectors | Lectors proclaim the Word of God within the liturgical celebrations of Mass. This ministry requires members to be in Good Standing.
Liturgical Environment | Members are responsible for the environment of the various worship spaces of the Church. This ministry provides appropriate enhancement to our liturgical seasons with appropriate decorations.
Rosary Guild | Members meet at 7:00 PM on Tuesdays in the chapel to pray and spread devotion to the rosary through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Guild members also lead the Rosary before all weekday Masses.
Sacristan | The sacristan prepares the physical objects needed for the celebration of the Eucharist. A detailed ministry, this ministry is necessary for the smooth flow of the liturgical celebration
Bible Study | An adult enrichment program meant to encourage familiarity with scripture and give opportunity to discuss God's word with other Catholics in the program.
OCIA | This ministry is responsible for the formation of OCIA candidates and Catechumens of both children and adults seeking to be initiated into the church. Members are required to attend training to become OCIA formators.
Youth Ministry | The response of the Christian community to the needs of the young people of our parish and the sharing of the unique gifts of our youth with the larger community.
Fundraising | Members plan and execute fundraising events to raise funds for the building fund. Members are responsible for seeking sponsorship from local community business and building relationships with other non-profits
Presbyterian Night Shelter (PNS) | On the 4th Tuesday of the month, volunteers make 300 sandwiches for the local night shelter, PNS gives the sandwiches to their clients as they leave the shelter to ensure they have a portable lunch.
Samaritan House Meal Preparation | On the 2nd Tuesday of the month, different members and ministries prepare and serve meals to residents at the Samaritan House.
Welcoming Committee | Members in this committee reach out to newly registered members and families to assure they feel welcomed and help them integrate into the St. Thomas the Apostle community.
Saint Vincent de Paul Society | Members participate in various events to help those seeking food, shelter, or financial assistance. Events include volunteering the mobile food pantry, raising money for those in need, and assist people who call the local hotline number.th with the larger community.
4-H | Do you have a passion for tending barn animals? this ministry is perfect for you. The church has a variety of barn animals on property and this ministry is always seeking new members to help tend and care for the horses, sheep, and other animals
Gardening / Landscaping Club | This ministry is responsible for the maintenance of the Church grounds. This includes maintaining the flowerbeds, planting, mowing, and trimming. The overall goal of this ministry is beautifying the church grounds
Knights of Columbus | Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men 18 year of age or older who are practicing Catholics in Good Standing. Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Vocations (Chalice) Ministry | This ministry schedules individuals and families to receive the vocations chalice during Mass. Each week a different family/individual will commit to pray for vocations in their home.
Catholic Daughters of America | This ministry is open to women in the parish community. Members participate in various activities, community events, and fellowship. Meets every 4th Tuesday of the month.
